The best toy car activities for preschool!
Do your kids love toy cars? Or do you have a bajillion toy cars in a bin and no clue what to do with them?
Here are 4 of the best car activities for preschool kids!
Color Parking Lot–
This is a classic car activity, but it is too good to pass up! It requires minimal prep and teaches our preschoolers about colors and graphing.
Here is how to create it:
- Take a sheet of paper and draw lines vertically, creating 5 columns.
- Get different colored post-its or construction paper scraps and place one in each column.
- Now grab colored cars that match the post-its/construction paper and have your kid place the cars in the correct category to match the post-it color to the car color.
Letter Parking Lot–
This simple play activity is a great way to work on letter identification.
Here’s how to create it:
- On a piece of butcher paper, draw a small city with roads, buildings and most importantly a letter parking lot.
- Label the letter parking lot with letters you are focusing on for the month.
- Write the focus letters for the month on dot stickers. Placing one sticker on each of the cars.
- Have your little play with the cars and park them in the parking lot.
Car wash–
This fun sensory activity engages their fine motor skills, imagination, and problem-solving skills.
Here’s how to create it:
- Fill a sensory bin with shaving cream and fill another one with plain water.
- Add cars to the bin with shaving cream and cover the car with it.
- Next grab a toothbrush and wash the cars in the plain water bin.
- Dry with towels and repeat!
Paint with cars –
This is great for creativity!
Here’s how to create it:
- Grab a couple of different colors of paint and squeeze the paint onto a plate or paper.
- Have your Lil’ grab their favorite toy car and dip the wheels!
- Then run the car on a blank sheet of paper and go for it!
