We are getting wild and crazy over here with this shape identification preschool activity. Let’s talk about shapes baby! Let’s talk about stars maybe. Let’s talk about all the circles and the rectangles you can see! Let’s talk about shapes! Please tell me someone gets this reference.

Clearly today’s activity is all about shapes, in case you haven’t figured it out.  For this preschool activity we will be working on shape identification as well as counting as we find all of the hidden shapes in the boat and sumbarine.

Step #1
Let your preschooler color the shape vehicle.

Step #2
When they are done coloring ask them to find and count all of the stars. Record the number of stars found at the top of the page.
Step #3
Repeat step 2 for ovals and diamonds.

Teacher Tip

As your preschooler is coloring talk to them about what they are doing. Try comments like, “I love how you are coloring the triangles green” or “wow, the truck is made out of a rectangle!”  Your preschoolers learns just as much from your commentary on their actions as they do when you are asking them questions. Plus, when you are commenting on their work they feel validated because you are clearly watching and engaging in their work and it doesn’t feel like they are being quizzed.
