Both our Lil’ Explorers and Lil’ Creators are working on the letter S this month!
During the Winter Olympics, there are so many “S” words to choose from and I decided to go with a classic: skiing!

This is a simple letter craft that will work on creative skills, fine motor skills and of course, the letter S.

Lil’ Explorers Focus Skills

Reading

  • Can identify all capital letters and some sounds (S)

Writing

  • Can form some capital letters (S)

Visual Arts

  • Use a variety of visual art materials (paint, markers, crayons, clay) with minimal adult assistance
  • Use visual arts to represent people, places, and things, using spatial awareness to coordinate the features of the representation
  • Identify different visual art materials

Fine Motor Skills

  • Coordinating the use of arms, hands, and fingers together to manipulate objects with increasing accuracy
  • Engage in activities that require hand-eye coordination

Lil’ Creators Focus Skills

Reading

  • Can form all capital letters and some lower case letters  (S)

Visual Arts

  • Explore the use of materials in a variety of different ways

Fine Motor Skills

  • Coordinate the use of hands, wrists, and fingers to complete tasks that require more precise movements
  • Engage in activities that require hand-eye coordination with increasing accuracy

*Construction Paper

*Markers

*Crayons

*Glue

*Scissors

Step #1
Print out the S is for Skis Template.
Step #2
Color in the mountain and trace the S.
Step #3

Cut out the mountain, the letter S, and the skier.

Step #4
Glue the mountain to the construction paper.
Step #5

Glue the S on top of the mountain to serve as the slopes.

Step #6
Glue the skier to the S.
Step #7
Label the paper S is for Skiing.

Teacher Tip

You can adjust the difficulty of this task by adjusting how much you assist them. Some of our older Creators can do the activity themselves 100%, while some of our younger Explorers will need everything cut for them and assistance gluing. You know your Lil’ best and can gauge how much assistance they need.
