Big Red Barn

Here are some of the Observations and Conclusions Rea and I made while reading Big Red Barn

  • I see two horses, a pig, and a duck
  • Can you find the scarecrow?
  • Oooh! A butterfly
  • What are the cows doing?
  • Wow! One of the cats is jumping!
  • Look at all the animals playing together in the hay! They are friends who play together!
  • It is getting dark so the animals are going into the barn for rest
  • The animals all sleep together in the barn
Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type
Here are some of the observations and conclusions Rea and I made while reading Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type.
  • Farmer Brown looks mad
  • There is a note on the barn
  • The cows want blankets because they are cold at night
  • Farmer Brown is mad because the cow won’t give him milk and the chickens won’t give him eggs
  • Farmer Brown wrote his own note
  • Duck delivered the note to Farmer Brown
  • The cows and chickens are sleeping warmly under the blankets
  • The ducks used the typewriter to get a diving board

Teacher Tip

Often our observations and conclusions are driven by the pictures in the book. This is a stepping stone and will be helpful later when your Lil’ is learning to read as they will be able to use the pictures in a book to guide them and they can check and see if they are reading the text correctly by seeing if the text matches the pictures.
