Lil’ Explorers Focus Skills

Reading

  • Can identify all capital letters and some sounds (B,F,O,J)

  • Coordinate the use of arms, hands, and fingers together to manipulate objects with increasing accuracy
  • Engage in activities that require hand-eye coordination

  • Can identify all capital letters and most sounds (H,G,I,U,D,W,E,K)

Fine Motor Skills

  • Coordinate the use of hands, wrists, and fingers to complete tasks that require more precise movements
  • Engage in activities that require hand-eye coordination with increasing accuracy

Required Materials

*ROLL OF PAPER

*Toy Cars

*Markers

Step #1
On a long scroll of butcher paper draw a road with lots of turns. Write one letter at each turn.
Lil’ Explorers- F,B,O,J
Lil’ Creators- H,G,I,U,D,W,E,K
*If you do not have butcher paper don’t worry, you can go outside and use chalk or you can skip the roads and put note cards with the letters on them on the ground.
Step #2
Draw a starting point.
Step #3
Tell your Lil’ to race their car to each letter as you say it’s name. For example, when you say D, your Lil’ will race their car to the letter D.
Step #4

Continue this process until you have gone through all of the letters or you have tired out your Lil’.

Teacher Tip

For some of our Lil’ Creators who are ready for a bigger challenge, you can try having them race to a letter based off the sound it makes.
