Lil’ Explorers Focus Skills

Visual Arts

  • Use a variety of visual art materials (paint, markers, crayons, clay) with minimal adult assistance
  • Use visual arts to represent people, places, and things, using spatial awareness to coordinate the features of the representation
  • Explore the use of materials in a variety of different ways

Drama

  • Engage in pretend play
  • Utilize familiar props for their intended purpose (use a phone to call someone) and invent new purposes for them

Required Materials

Police Hat and Badge Template

*Paper Plate

*Crayons

Safety Pin

*Glue

*Scissors

*Washable Paint

*Paint Brushes

Step #1
Print the Police Hat and Badge Template.
Step #2
Color the star and badge.
Step #3
Cut your paper plate so that you are cutting along the perimeter of the inner circle on the plate. You only want to cut about 3/4 of the way and this should be done by an adult.
Step #4
Cut out the star and badge.
Step #5
Glue the star to the center of the paper plate and the write your Lil’s name on the badge.
Step #6
Put the hat on your Lil’s head and bend the paper flap upwards. Safety pin the badge to your Lil’s shirt.
Now it is time to engage your Lil’ in a game of cops and robbers.

Teacher Tip

We used our police hat and badge while doing our Shape Detective activity so that we were dressed the part.
