For this preschool activity, we will be working on cutting skills. We are going to create a lion out of a paper plate and we will use our scissors to create the mane of the lion.

I’ve been sharing with you that I’m working towards creating scissor skills activities that are more engaging than simply cutting on the line and this is one of those activities.

Teacher Tip

This was an activity that I was able to get both kids involved in. Derek is 18 months but he’s steadily growing more and more interested in doing activities with Rea so I allowed him to paint his own plate. He also tried his hardest to do some scissor cutting and while he had a great time, he obviously was not very successful at cutting on his own.
