I always love connecting books with art as I believe it is a really powerful way to gain your Lil’s interest in the story and it helps them comprehend the story better.
We will be connecting with our story through hats that look like our mouse friend in If You Give a Mouse a Cookie so that your Lil’ can then engage in pretend play.

Required Materials

Mouse Hat Template

*Construction Paper

*Stapler

*Crayons

*Glue

*Scissors

Step #1
Print the mouse hat template.
We printed the mouse face on white paper and the horizontal line page on blue construction paper.
Step #2
Color in the mouse face.
Step #3
Cut out the templates.
Step #4
Staple the horizontal strips of paper together to make one long strip of paper.
Step #5
Wrap the long strip of paper around your Lil’s head and staple it closed to make it the size of your Lil’s head.
Step #6
Glue the mouse face to your circle hat.

Teacher Tip

If you have pretend food at home, your Lil’ can pretend to be the mouse in the story eating a pretend cookie and of course, asking for a pretend glass of milk.
