I talked about the benefits of matching activities in our Chicken- Farm Shape Match post, but this time we’re going to pair our matching skills with some science with our Mama and Baby Farm Animal Match.
Our preschoolers are going to learn a little more about farm animals as we match mama animals to their babies!
Grab a FREE copy of the template in the Required Materials section below.
Lil’ Explorers Focus Skills
- Sort objects based on two characteristics; size, color, shape, texture, or weight
- Pose “what” and “why” questions about their surroundings
- Understand 3 of the 5 senses to make observations
Print and cut out the Mama and Baby Animal Match Template.
Lay all the mama animals on the left and all the baby animals on the right.
Invite your little to match the mama animals to their babies. Be sure to talk about the name of each mama animal and the baby animal. Most of our Lil’s are familiar with the name of the mama animals, however the name of the baby animals will be new to them.
If this is too hard for your Lil’, use fewer animals at a time.
If this is too easy for your Lil’, mixup the mamas and babies so that they have to search a little more.
