Game of Gnomes by Kirsten Mayer
This is a fun book about Ginger, a red headed gnome who wants to be known for more than just her hair. She is a great athlete and decides to compete in the Winter Olympics so she’ll be known for her athletic abilities instead of her hair. However, every time she competes, she gets disqualified until she shows the gnomes why her skills are valuable.
I was initially intrigued by this book because of the title and its play on words with the Game of Thrones series (we are MAJOR fans) but not to worry, there is ZERO connections between the two books.
Once I read this book, I fell in love with it because of the main character’s tenacity and creative nature. She is proud of who she is and wants to be know for who she is and not how she looks. She is a strong character and one for our kids to admire. The best part about this is the fact that the author doesn’t force the issue or her agenda, instead she tells as fabulous story about a character.
I was beyond excited to read this book to Rea and it was a major hit!
