Painted rocks and story stones are all the rage on Instagram right now and for good reason! We LOVE it!
Our story stone activity is really more of a song stone activity as we will not be reading but rather singing. These song stones will give your Lil’ the opportunity to work on their creative skills.

*Farmer in the Dell Story Stones Template

*Rocks

*Washable Paint (optional)

Water

*Glue

*Scissors

*Paintbrush

Step #1
Paint eight rocks white.
*This step is optional, but it does allow for the pictures on your story stones to be a little more eye-catching.
You want to get rocks that have a flat surface about 2 inches wide. River rocks are great for this. I got them at The Dollar Store.
Step #2
Print and cut out our Farmer in the Dell template.
Step #3
Combine equal parts liquid glue and water to make a thin adhesive.
You do not need a lot of this. A little will go a long way.
Step #4
Lay your farmer image on one of the painted rocks. Attach it to the rock by painting your glue mixture over it. Be sure to cover the entire picture with your glue mixture.
Repeat this step for all eight pictures.
Step #5
Once your song stones have dried, sing the song Farmer in the Dell with your Lil’. Hold the corresponding stone as you sing about that character; for example when you’re singing about the farmer, hold the farmer stone.

If your not familiar with the Farmer in the Dell song, you can listen to it here.
