You guys during this activity Rea had her “ah-ha” moment. I could see her brain making connections. She has been doing letter of the week crafts with me for a year now. At first it was great for letter recognition, but she mastered all of her capital letters awhile ago. She continued to do these crafts with me but for a while, that is really all they were: crafts where she worked on cutting, gluing, and coloring (these are all important skills so this isn’t a bad thing.)
BUT during this activity, she looked at it and said, “F like in frog” and the way she said it and the tone she used told me that she knew the letter F was connected to the word frog.
I had a SUPER HUGE proud momma moment which is why I take the time to brag, but also because if you are feeling like the connections just aren’t being made yet, DON’T WORRY!
They will come when your Lil’ is ready and in the mean time, keep giving them opportunities to make those connections!
