Our Lil’ Creators are being introduced to 3D shapes this month and the best way to learn any subject is with real life manipulatives (in my humble opinion.) So head over to your pantry and gather some 3D shapes so we can get started!
We will be sorting the items based on their shape.

Everything But the Kitchen Sink Template

Pantry Items

Step #1
Print and cut out the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Template.
Step #2
Gather various items from your pantry.

We used:

  • cereal box
  • rice box
  • apple
  • orange
  • cranberry
  • egg
  • tissues
  • canned soup
  • cooking spray
Step #3
Layout the templates on a table or the floor so that you have enough room to sort all of your objects.
Step #4
Sort your pantry items based on their shape.
Be sure to identify each item and it’s shape when you sort it.

Teacher Tip

We didn’t end up having any cones in our pantry, so we just left that area blank. If you want, you could use the cones you made from the Ice Cream, You Scream activity.
