We are using our Easter eggs for so much more than collecting candies today.
Honestly, when it comes time for your egg hunt, your Lil’ may not know what to do because they are expecting the egg to explode. Which is exactly what we are going to do today!
We are going to get our science on and turn our eggs into rockets!

Water

Step #1
Use a hot glue gun to cover the holes on the plastic eggs.

This is a critical step as it prevents the air from seeping out creating enough pressure for the explosion.

Step #2
Fill the larger half of the egg with water.
Step #3
Place a half piece of Alka-Seltzer in the small half of the egg and tape it to the bottom. Be sure to use a thin piece of tape to increase its exposure to the water.

Ask your Lil’ what they think will happen when you close the egg and mix the Alka-Seltzer and water.

Step #4
Put the egg together, keeping it upside down so the water is on bottom. When you’re ready, flip it upside-down and stand it up on a flat surface.
Step #5
Step back and observe.

Talk about what happened. Encourage your Lil’ to use descriptive words as they tell you what they observed.

Step #6
Your Lil’ will likely want to do this again, so play with the size of the reaction by adjusting how much Alka-Seltzer you add.

Encourage your Lil’ to make predictions about what will happen when you add a big piece of Alka-Seltzer.
