Last month’s Ski Jumper has us loving all things that fly.
So we are making a spring version of this activity.
Grab your Easter eggs one more time for this science and engineering activity!

Lil’ Explorers Focus Skills

Science

  • Pose “what” and “why” questions about their surroundings
  • Make predictions and perform experiments
  • Understand 3 of the 5 senses to make observations

Engineering

  • Construct models to represent their imagination and objects in the world
  • Build using a variety of materials in both conventional and unconventional ways
  • Use tools with appropriate safety and purpose

Lil’ Creators Focus Skills

Science

  • Pose “what,” “why” and “how” questions about their surroundings
  • Make predictions, perform experiments, and discuss results
  • Use 5-senses to make observations

*Bendy Straw

*Plastic Egg

*Hot Glue Gun

*Pom Pom

Step #1
Use a hot glue gun to draw a small circle around one of the holes on your plastic egg.
Step #2
Place the straw in the glue and hole for 30 seconds until the glue dries and hardens.
Make sure that you are not covering the hole.
*You may need to trim the straw for some added stability.
Step #3

Once the glue dries, bend the straw so the egg is pointing upwards.

Step #4
Place a pom pom in the egg and ask your Lil’ what they think will happen when you blow through the straw.
Step #5
Blow through the straw and watch the pom pom fly.
Step #6
Ask your Lil’ to describe what they saw and why they think the pom pom flew.

Teacher Tip

You can try experimenting with this by blowing hard and softly through the straw to see if it effects the pom pom.
