‘Tis the season for brightly colored plastic eggs!
I love these little eggs.
They have been keeping my kids entertained since Rea’s 2nd Easter (she was only 3 months at her 1st Easter so she really didn’t care then.)
Their bright colors, their ability to open and shut, and the fact that they can roll has been enough to keep Rea entertained in the past, but this year I will be using them as a teaching tool and we will get even more joy out of them!
This simple activity will have your Lil’ working on sorting and colors.

Step #1
Open your plastic eggs.
Step #2
Layout the eggs so that they are sitting with the open side up.
If you have an empty egg carton you can place the eggs in that to keep them from rolling around.
Step #3

Using tweezers, sort the pom poms into the eggs based on their color.

Teacher Tip

You can add some variations to this activity.

  • If you have various sized eggs and pom poms, you can have your Lil’ sort the pom poms by size and color.
  • You can layout multiple eggs of each color and sort one pom pom into each egg.
  • You can have one egg of each color egg and sort multiple pom poms into each egg.
