This month’s theme, my community, is perfect for pretend play! Each week, as we learn about different community members, we have the opportunity to deepen that knowledge by pretending to be those community members ourselves.
Today’s activity is to create our own DIY doctor kits so that your Lil’ can give their siblings and/or toys a check up.

Lil’ Explorers Focus Skills

Drama

  • Engage in pretend play

Required Materials

*Construction Paper

*Headband

*Markers

*Ziplock Bag

*Hot Glue Gun

*Scissors

*Pipe Cleaner

Tin Foil

*Cotton Balls

*Band Aids

*Ribbon

Step #1
Apply two dots of hot glue to the top of a piece of construction paper about 4 inches apart.
Bend a pipe cleaner so that each end is in one glue dot.
Step #2
Apply hot glue to the top of a ziplock bag and glue to the top of the construction paper over the pipe cleaner.
If your ziplock bag has one of the plastic zip tops, pull the plastic piece off.
Step #3
Apply hot glue to the opposite side of the ziplock bag and fold the construction paper to glue it to the bag.
Step #4
Decorate the bag with crayons or markers.
Step #5
To make the stethoscope:
  • Glue a piece of ribbon around the curve of the headband.
  • Cut a piece of tinfoil in to two circles.
  • Glue the ribbon in between the two circles.
Step #6

Put some band aids, the stethoscope, and some cotton balls inside your doctor bag and get ready for your check up.

Teacher Tip

Only adults should be using the hot glue gun as it can get very hot.
