I found this image online and I think it’s a great reference tool so I have used it to inspire this month’s tracing activity.
We also have some cutting pages for you to work on so that your Lil’ can develop their cutting skills.
This tracing and cutting activity will help your Lil’ develop their pre-writing skills and scissor skills.

Step #1
Print and cut out the My Community Tracing and Cutting Template.
On the cutting pages, the adult will cut on the solid lines and the Lil’ will cut on the dotted lines. This will make more manageable pieces of paper for your Lil’ to practice cutting.
Step #2
Invite your Lil’ to trace the various lines.
Step #3
If you haven’t already, cut the cutting practice pages along the solid lines to make more manageable sized pieces for your Lil’ to practice cutting.
Step #4
Invite your Lil’ to cut on the dotted lines.

Teacher Tip

If your Lil’  is enjoying cutting, but they’re not able to make each exact cut on the line, that’s okay. Keep practicing and eventually they will get there.
If the idea of giving your Lil’ scissors makes you nervous, you can practice cutting Play Doh with Play Doh scissors.
