Filling Your Body - Healthy Food Sort

In our Filling Your Body activity, we are talking about the healthy foods that we put in our body.

This activity is a healthy food sort. Over here at our house, we talk about healthy foods giving us energy and helping us grow strong whereas unhealthy foods are “sometimes foods” because they are yummy, but they don’t necessarily help our bodies.

This preschool activity works on sorting, cutting, gluing, and health and nutrition.

Focus Skills


  • Pose “what” and “why” questions about their surroundings
  • Use graphs and charts to describe data

Fine Motor Skills

  • Coordinate the use of hands, wrists, and fingers to complete tasks that require more precise movements
  • Engage in activities that require hand-eye coordination with increasing accuracy

Filling Your Body Template



Step #1
Print and cut out the Filling My Body template.
Step #2
Sort the foods as either healthy or unhealthy.
Step #3
Glue the healthy food onto the body template.
Step #4
Talk with your child about healthy foods versus unhealthy foods and how healthy foods fuel our body.

Teacher Tip

If you want to make this activity more hands-on and interactive, ditch the template and use the body outline from our Body Tracing and Painting activity and pretend food. Obviously, you won’t glue the pretend food, but you can still sort the food by healthy versus unhealthy and put the healthy foods on top of the body outline.
